Flyer Watch: The Best Grocery Deals in Canada This Week
Every week we read the major grocery flyers for the Vancouver area and pull out the deals that are actually worth something, with a straight verdict on each: stock up, good price, or skip.
This edition covers the flyer week of Thursday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 21, 2026, checked on Monday, October 19. These deals end Wednesday, so if something here is on your list, this is the week to buy it.
Real Canadian Superstore
Neilson Trutaste milk, 4 L, $4.98. Our verdict: stock up. Our tracker price for a regular 4 L jug of Neilson 2% at the same store this week is $6.44, so this flyer jug saves you $1.46.
Boneless skinless chicken breast, club size, $4.99 per pound. Our verdict: good price. It matches the sale price in our tracker ($4.88 per pound online), and chicken breast under $5 a pound is the buy zone. Freeze what you will not use this week.
Bone-in pork loin combination chops, club size, $2.50 per pound. Our verdict: stock up. Pork loin chops at $2.50 a pound is one of the cheapest proteins you will see this fall.
Raspberries, 170 g pack, $1.99. Our verdict: good price for fresh berries in October. Buy for this week, not the freezer stockpile.
No Frills
Royal Gala apples, $0.97 per pound. Our verdict: stock up. Apples under $1 a pound in the fall is as good as it gets, and Galas keep for weeks in the fridge.
Farmer's Market yellow onions, 10 lb bag, $2.99. Our verdict: stock up. Compare that with $3.00 for a 3 lb bag in our Superstore tracker. If you cook with onions regularly, this bag pays for itself.
FreshCo
Hothouse tomatoes, $1 per pound. Our verdict: stock up. This fits the national pattern: Statistics Canada reported fresh vegetable prices down 2.9% year over year in September 2026, and tomatoes at $1 a pound is that trend showing up in a flyer.
Avocados, 5 pack, $2. Our verdict: stock up if your household eats them. Forty cents an avocado is a genuine deal.
Compliments shredded cheese, 226 to 320 g, $5. Our verdict: skip unless you need the convenience. A 400 g block of No Name cheddar is $5.99 regular at Superstore, and the block works out cheaper per 100 g than most of the sizes in this deal.
Safeway
Fresh pork loin back ribs or pork tenderloin, family size, $3.99 per pound. Our verdict: stock up. Tenderloin at under $4 a pound is worth freezer space.
Honeycrisp apples, $1.99 per pound. Our verdict: good price. Honeycrisps rarely go under $2 a pound in BC.
Compliments large brown eggs or Cozy Coop large white eggs, 12 pack, $4.99. Our verdict: skip for everyday eggs. These are premium eggs at a premium price. The regular price for a basic dozen large eggs at Superstore this week is $3.93, more than a dollar less.
Save-On-Foods
Lean ground beef, fresh value pack, $6.49 per pound. Our verdict: stock up. The regular price in our tracker is $8.49 per pound at Superstore, so this saves about $4.41 on a kilogram. Portion it and freeze it the day you buy it.
Kraft Dinner macaroni and cheese, 200 g, 4 for $5. Our verdict: good pantry price at $1.25 a box if your household eats it.
Pepsi, 2 L, 2 for $4. Our verdict: ordinary sale. Two dollars a bottle shows up in flyers constantly. Buy what you need, do not clear the shelf.
Walmart and Loblaws
Walmart: Gay Lea butter, 454 g, $4.97. Our verdict: stock up. The regular tracker price for a 454 g block is $5.99, and butter freezes for months, so this is the week to buy an extra block or two.
Walmart: Clover Leaf tuna, $1.24. Our verdict: good pantry price for a shelf-stable staple. The size was not stated in the flyer listing we checked, so confirm the tin size in store.
Loblaws: strawberries, 1 lb pack, $2.88. Our verdict: good price for fresh strawberries in October.
